Is the Justice Gang by any other name just as sweet? A tie-in for Superman reveals new details about Mister Terrific and his team of unlikely heroes!
The Justice Gang is an odd entity in Superman. Almost everyone knows that they’re meant to be stand-ins for, or eventually become, the Justice League of America. However, James Gunn decided to give them an entirely unique name, even when he could have used the moniker of Mister Terrific’s other team: The Terrifics.
Yet it seems there is a reason, at least textually, as to why the Justice Gang has such an odd name. A tie-in children’s book for Superman has provided fans with new insights into the cast, with descriptions giving a basic rundown of who each character is. For the section of the Justice Gang, it’s revealed that the team doesn’t actually have a name, even if Guy Gardner is partial to the aforementioned “Justice Gang” title.
Mister Terrific’s Role In Superman
While the sections on the other Justice Gang members are rather sparse, Mister Terrific’s description is rather fleshed out. The book explains that he’s a metahuman that seeks to protect the city of Metropolis and the people within, similar to Superman himself. However, instead of being a daring reporter, Mister Terrific’s civilian identity serves as a scientist at Holt Industries.
This description could explain Mister Terrific’s eventual break with the Justice Gang. Unlike Superman, who has a day job as a reporter seeing the truth about the world, Mister Terrific is locked up in his lab when he’s not being a hero. Perhaps seeing more of the outside world can show that there’s more to being a hero than what the Justice Gang is allowing him to do, leading to him leaving the team.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
