Does the DC Universe already have its perfect Batman? Tyler Hoechlin reveals that, following his tenure as Superman, he’d loved to return to the franchise as the Dark Knight.
Perhaps one of the most heartbreaking things to come out of the new DC Universe initiative was Superman and Lois being cancelled. It was one of the best things the franchise had put out in a long time, in no small part due to Tyler Hoechlin’s performance as Superman. While it’s understandable why it had to go, almost every fan can agree that it was gone too soon.
This has left many fans wondering if the actors can find another life in the new landscape of the DC Universe. Plenty of actors have made the jump between reboots: from Michael Keaton as Batman to John Wesley Shipp as Jay Garrick. So in recent months, fans have begun to speculate what roles actors like Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch could take up on the silver screen.
Is Tyler Hoechlin Playing Batman?
It seems that Tyler Hoechlin has his own ideas of who he could play. During a recent appearance at FanExpo Canada (via: ScreenRant), the actor was asked if he thought Robert Pattinson should be the main Batman of the DC Universe. Hoechlin had a different idea: that he should actually be the one taking up the role of Batman!
“Well, selfishly, I’m going to say no because I still want to play Batman. I think and I say that Rob did a fantastic, fantastic job and [with] Matt Reeves it was great. So I’m happy to let them keep doing their thing, and maybe leave the door open for maybe an additional whole new envisioning of Batman versus Superman.”
While Tyler Hoechlin may be a tad old to play Batman across from David Corenswet’s Man of Steel, there’s no denying that he’d be a great actor for the role. And given how much James Gunn has a tendency to cast already known actors in the new DC Universe, it wouldn’t be shocking if someone from the CW Shows makes their jump to the big screen.
