Madame Web star Sydney Sweeney discussed growing up on Marvel movies.

Sydney Sweeney, who many viewers first became acquainted with for her role as Cassie Howard in HBO’s Euphoria will be making her superhero movie debut in the upcoming Madame Web, which will be one of the next entries in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe of films, and will star Dakota Johnson in the titular role. As she gets ready to take on the film, she reflected on how Marvel movies were part of her coming-of-age.

In an interview with THR, Sydney Sweeney discussed her upcoming role in Madame Web, and she shares why she’s quite excited to take on Marvel Comics after becoming an in-demand star thanks to her role in Euphoria:

“Oh my goodness. I grew up watching Marvel movies and superheroes are just the coolest thing ever. So I just dreamt of being able to be a part of something bigger than life itself. And that’s what I feel like I’m getting to be a part of with Madame Web.

Sydney Sweeney’s Euphoria co-star, Zendaya, notably plays Michelle Jones AKA MJ in all three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man films with Tom Holland. Although Madame Web will take place specifically in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe along with both Venom movies, Morbius, and Kraven the Hunter, it wouldn’t be beyond the realm of possibility to see the two meet up somehow. After all, Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back characters from both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s respective universes.

Here is the synopsis for the latest entry in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, Morbius:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.

Directed Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the film stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster, while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.

Morbius is now available on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.
