Despite being set to release in just under a year, little is known about Sony’s upcoming Madame Web film aside from the fact that Dakota Johnson will be playing the titular hero. However, a new rumor states that Johnson’s co-star, Sydney Sweeney, will also be taking up the role of a web-slinger as Marvel’s Spider-Woman.
Speculation has been rampant about who Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney will be playing in the Madame Web film since she was cast in March of last year. This newest rumor comes from Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic, who claims that she will “100%” be playing “the second” Spider-Woman, a.k.a. Julia Carpenter.
Sydney Sweeney also wouldn’t be the only Spider-Woman we see on the big screen in the near future. Issa Rae is set to voice the character in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It has also been heavily rumored that Olivia Wilde would direct a live-action Spider-Woman film for Sony, though there has been no official confirmation by the filmmaker or the studio if this is true.
