Director Taika Waititi discussed how Thor: Love and Thunder will be even bigger and brighter than Ragnarok.
The first two Thor movies offered audiences a comparatively more serious and Shakespearean take on the God of Thunder. However, when director Taika Waititi assumed the director’s chair for the third film, Thor: Ragnarok, audiences were treated to a far more comedic and colorful interpretation of the character.
Soon, Taika Waititi will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the director the next Thor film, Love and Thunder, leaving some fans to wonder if the next chapter in the God of Thunder’s adventures will retain the same tone as Ragnarok. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Taika Waititi assured fans that Thor: Love and Thunder will actually “double down” on Rangarok‘s bright and colorful tone:
“The next Thor film I’m doing, basically, we’re sort of launching ourselves again on this adventure film, really. That was the thing really that I loved about doing Ragnarok, it felt like we were just putting Thor on a really cool adventure. There’s always like new things to see and do, and this one, I think we’re gonna double down a lot on that and have it bigger, bolder and brighter. There’s just gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film.”
Based on Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book run, the film will see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster becoming the new Thor. The film will reunite Taika Waititi with stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.
In the meantime, fans can re-watch Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok on all home media formats.
In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok”, Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the hands of an all-powerful new threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladictorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins.
