Mark Millar recently took to Twitter to predict that Taron Egerton will replace Hugh Jackman as the next live-action Wolverine.
Not long after Hugh Jackman made his final appearance as the X-Men hero Wolverine in James Mangold’s Logan, fans were proposing potential candidates to succeed the actor in the role. Recent rumors suggest Kingsman and Rocketman star Taron Egerton is one of the contenders for the role of Wolverine, though the actor has stated the speculation is unfounded.
Comic book writer Mark Millar, who penned the Kingsman comics on which the aforementioned Taron Egerton film is based, predicts the Wolverine rumors will become a reality. His prediction was prompted by a fan who wrote a social media post pointing out Mark Millar “accurately predicted the future” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a 2002 panel featuring Nick Fury, who was modeled after Samuel L. Jackson, referencing eventual Tony Stark actor Robert Downey Jr. years before the MCU launched with 2008’s Iron Man. In response, Mark Millar reminded fans he is “never wrong” and then declared Taron Egerton will be Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine successor.

Marvel Studios, which now holds the film rights to Wolverine and the X-Men following Disney’s acquisitions of 21st Century Fox, is expected to reboot the franchise. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn who will replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
