Taron Egerton Comments On Wolverine Rumors For Kevin Feige’s X-Men

Taron Egerton Wolverine MCU Kevin Feige X-Men Kingsman

Taron Egerton Wolverine MCU Kevin Feige X-MenTaron Egerton recently discussed the rumors that he’d be playing Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Kevin Feige’s take on the X-Men.

While Kevin Feige’s X-Men plans have yet to be fully revealed, fans are desperate to find out who would be bringing the mutants to the screen again alongside the Avengers. One name that constantly crops up to play Wolverine is Kingsman star Taron Egerton. If the MCU is aiming for a younger Wolverine that could be featured in several films and cameos for years to come, Taron Egerton would be a great fit.

Recently at ACE Comic-Con, Taron Egerton explained that although the X-Men role definitely interests him, he’s “baffled” by fans wanting to see him as Wolverine. Taron Egerton also mentions that he’s got plenty of friends in the franchise but doesn’t really know if he’d be the right person to bring Wolverine to life on-screen after Hugh Jackman’s version in the previous X-Men films. Here’s what Taron Egerton had to say on the matter:

“I think that I love those films and I’ve got lots of friends who play roles in those films and they love it and they have a great time… I don’t know. I think the Logan thing is really interesting. I’m slightly baffled by it, I’ve never felt like a Wolverine sort of guy. I think that one’s a few years away.”

Taron Egerton went on to mention that he’s aware that Kevin Feige’s X-Men plans won’t become clear for a few years, explaining that by that time he might have the right rugged look to play Wolverine in the next X-Men movie. The actor finally said that he would love to be involved with the series — which is a no brainer for a young actor, as getting a role in a Marvel movie and working with Kevin Feige would propel his career even further.

“I know that Kevin [Feige’s] spoken about it being a few years away. Maybe in a few years I’ll look rough enough for it. I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m a fan of those fans and of course I would, I would love to be a part of them.”

Would you like to see Taron Egerton as Wolverine for Kevin Feige’s X-Men film? Who else would you like to see appear in the MCU’s X-Men? Tell us in the comments!

The X-Men last appeared on screen in Dark Phoenix. Here’s the official synopsis for the movie:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

Dark Phoenix is now available on Digital HD, 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Taron Egerton and Wolverine.
