A new age of Mutant Mayhem?

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are set to make their return to the big screen when Mutant Mayhem drops in just a few weeks. However, it seems as though Paramount Pictures has already greenlit a sequel and two seasons of a streaming series ahead of its release.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have always been a massive brand, even if their most recent iterations haven’t found the most success. The newest attempt at a series comes from the mind of Seth Rogan, focusing on the “Teenage” aspect of the TMNT in Mutant Mayhem. Fans of the turtles have been excited about this change to form, and it seems as though Paramount Pictures is echoing the hype, with Variety confirming a sequel is in the works with two seasons of a streaming series being produced to bridge the gap between the films.

This news comes along with Paramount Pictures’ CEO Brian Robbins claiming they want to step away from releasing original animated movies in theaters to focus on IPs, as they’re viewed as less of a gamble. While the TMNT is certainly a strong brand, the Michael Bay films prove it’s certainly not without risk. It’s yet to be seen if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will start another wave of turtlemania, or if Paramount bet on the wrong horse.

What to expect from the TMNT movie
