Will Temuera Morrison ever return to the Star Wars universe? The Boba Fett actor speaks on a potential role in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to serve as a finale to the Disney Plus era as Star Wars. The film will likely be a collection of “who’s who” when it comes to their biggest shows. Many fans assumed this meant Temuera Morrison would make his grand return as Boba Fett, redeeming his character after the disastrous The Book of Boba Fett. However, it seems Morrison isn’t confident in an appearance.
“I’m still waiting for a phone call to be quite honest,” Morrison explained during a panel at Fan Expo Chicago. “I think we’re just put on the shelf for a little bit. Maybe we come off the shelf later.”
It’s a shame that the failure of The Book of Boba Fett likely means that Temuera Morrison won’t be making his return in The Mandalorian and Grogu. Especially considering how instrumental the character of Boba Fett has been to the series, and the Disney Plus shows in general, it almost seems criminal for him to be left out of a celebration of all things Star Wars.
Temuera Morrison Still Wants The Book Of Boba Fett Season 2
Temuera Morrison’s aspirations with Boba Fett seem to extend much larger than a quick cameo in The Mandalorian and Grogu. The actor wants a larger piece of the Star Wars pie on Disney Plus, revealing his hopes that The Book of Boba Fett could redeem itself with a season 2. Or season 3. And maybe even a season 4!
“Both [Ming-Na Wen] and I wanted to work pretty hard in the hope that they might carry on [and] do a 2 and a 3 and a 4 and a 5 and a 6 and a 7,” Morrison at Syndey Supernova earlier this year. “I’ve been trying to nudge them in that direction too. It needs more nudging, but anyway…”
It’s a shame that Star Wars seems to be letting one of their most beloved characters like Boba Fett rest on the shelf after a single failed Disney Plus show. The franchise has revived smaller names than Temuera Morrison for much less. So while appearing in The Mandalorian and Grogu may be the least the actor deserves, Star Wars fans should hope he even gets a call to do that!
