Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson has teased Valkyrie’s strange new powers.
After debuting in Thor: Ragnarok, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie is set to be a huge part of Thor: Love and Thunder, thanks in part to the final moments of Avengers: Endgame. As the fourth film in the Avengers franchise came to a close, Thor named Valkyrie as the new ruler of New Asgard. Seeing as she’s far competent and politically adept than the God of Thunder, we think that Thor made a fine choice.
With an expanded role in the upcoming Marvel film, Tessa Thompson has also teased an expansion of the iconic character’s powers. In a recent interview with W Magazine, the star revealed that Valkyrie will have strange new powers in Love and Thunder, including the ability to revive those who have fallen. Except there’s a very, very strange twist.
“She has weird skills, to be honest. She can sense when someone is close to death, and she takes them into Valhalla, which is essentially the afterlife. She can revive people. But when she revives people, sometimes she ends up in their body. It’s a weird thing. It can be quite erotic. And then she has superhuman strength and is essentially God.”
The ability to end up in their body is definitely weird. Of course, Taika Waititi is returning for the fourth film in the franchise, so it’s no surprise that the film sounds wackier than ever. Details are slim on the sequel, so it’s nice to hear some new info from Tessa Thompson herself.
Chris Hemsworth is set to return as Thor in the MCU’s Love and Thunder, which will also see Jane Foster becoming the next God of Thunder. With Foster now becoming Mighty Thor, it’s possible that Hemsworth’s future with the Marvel franchise could wrap up.

Matt Damon, Sam Neill, Luke Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, and Russell Crowe are also on board.
