With Star Wars: The Last Jedi hitting theaters later this year and the success of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans have plenty to be excited for. Something even more exciting is that there is going to be a standalone Han Solo film. As of right now, however, not a lot is known about the film, which will star Alden Ehrenreich in the lead role. For the first time since Star Wars: A New Hope, Harrison Ford won’t be playing Han Solo.
Westworld star Thandie Newton, whose role in the Han Solo film has yet to be disclosed, spoke with The Wrap recently and said that besides “loving” working on the film, Newton says it’s also “really different” from the other Star Wars films.
“It’s fantastic, I’m loving [it]. It’s different from anything else I have done or am doing. … I can’t tell you [why]. It’s just different, OK? It’s just really different.”
That’s all she would say about the movie, so there’s definitely a lot being kept under wraps and Newton probably sworn to secrecy. If Thandie Newton is excited about the film, then that’s a nugget of information that will hopefully get fans excited for the film.
The Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is being written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film stars Alden Ehrenreich stars as young Han Solo, Joonas Suotomo as Chewbacca, and Donald Glover as young Lando Calrissian. The cast also includes Thandie Newton, Emilia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams, and Ian Kenny.
The film is will be in theaters on May 25, 2018.
