Darth Plagueis has been a name whispered in the corners of Star Wars projects for years. The villain was first mentioned in The Revenge of the Sith, with Palpatine explaining their use of the Force to create life and cheat death to Anakin as a way to turn him to the dark side. George Lucas confirmed that the character would be of the Muun species, which is why so many people believe the figure in The Acolyte to be Darth Plagueis.
Since then, Darth Plagueis has served as a boogeyman across the entire Star Wars franchise, with fans expecting him to show up in almost every new project announced. While the future of The Acolyte is unclear, it’s not likely Lucasfilm with tease the character in episode 8 without big plans after the finale.
