Is The Batman‘s sequel filming sooner than fans expect? Details on the project’s production have been revealed in a recent Glasgow newspaper.
After delays on delays (on delays!), production on the long-awaited sequel to The Batman is finally nearing. However, despite fans knowing it will film next year, there seems to be a wide birth of possibilities about when exactly cameras will start rolling on the project.
Initial reports suggested that The Batman will begin production on its sequel on January 1st. However, not long after a shareholders call with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed that the project won’t actually begin filming until Spring of next year. With the movie due out in October of 2027, the difference in those two times could be the deciding factor behind if the project gets delayed once more.
When Is The Batman Sequel Filming?
Luckily, it seems fans finally have some concrete information. Glasgow World, a local paper focusing on the Scottish city, shed some light on the production as it prepares to film. The outlet reveals that The Batman sequel will, in fact, start rolling cameras on January 1st, 2026. While it’s possible that they got this information from another outlet, it does confirm that the project will at least film in the winter instead of spring.
Additionally, the paper confirmed that The Batman will mostly be filming in Glasgow and Liverpool for the sequel’s exterior shots. However, for interior scenes, the sequel will actually be moving over to Leavesden in England to make use of the Warner Bros. Studios lot that was recently constructed overseas.
The Batman sequel is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe.
