Is The Batman sequel going to be even better than the original? The film’s co-writer reveals new insight about Matt Reeve’s process when writing the script.
One of the most anticipated films, superhero genre or otherwise, set to come out in the next few years is the sequel to The Batman. It’s one of the only times in recent memory were fans were tracking when a script for the project would be turned in, when most projects are lucky if people even care when they start filming!
However, this also puts some absolutely colossal expectations on the sequel. The Batman was a groundbreaking film. While it had some issues, it truly redefined what “DC” meant for fans across the globe. And with half a decade between the release of the first film and its sequel, there are some absolutely massive shoes that need to be filled.
The Ambition Of The Batman Sequel
The co-writer of the sequel, Mattson Tomlin, recently spoke about these expectations in a recent social media post. The writer explains that the only reason to make a sequel is if one is able to top the original. This paints a good picture, suggesting that the follow-up to The Batman may be even deeper and grander in scope than its predecessor.
the only worthwhile reason to make a sequel to anything is because there's a story burning to be told that you believe can top what came before 🙂 https://t.co/4pmGrBSRTK

As more and more actors get the script, and others start to be cast, it’s likely that details about The Batman sequel will find their way out onto the net. However, in this time before the storm, it is truly special that fans are able to gather around a movie that’s not even close to filming yet in the hopes that it will be something extraordinary.
The Batman sequel is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, and make sure to stay tuned to our YouTube channel for more content.
