Progress is finally being made on the sequel to The Batman! The latest report reveals when fans can expect filming to commence on the long-awaited project.
The follow-up to The Batman is perhaps one of the most anticipated comic book films in history. While a spin-off in The Penguin hit HBO Max just last year, fans have been frothing at the mouth for a true blue sequel to the beloved project. However, due to delays like the WGA strikes, the project was left in a limbo of delays.
Yet it wasn’t long ago that fans got official confirmation that director Matt Reeves had turned in the script for The Batman. Yet while progress was being made, there was no word on when filming for the sequel would begin, or if it would make its very tight release window of October, 2027. If it didn’t, the project would likely be delayed another full year until 2028.
When Will The Batman Sequel Start Filming?
For once, there is some truly good news coming out of The Batman sequel. The latest report from ProductionList.com reveals that the project has officially entered pre-production, with production leads now starting the process of bringing on the workers for their individual departments. While the Production List doesn’t have a perfect track record, it is reliable enough to raise some eyebrows.
In addition, the sight gives fans some insight on when filming for the sequel will officially begin. Cameras sadly won’t be rolling this year, with the outlet reporting that The Batman‘s follow-up will start production proper on January 1st, 2026. While that date is likely a placeholder, fans shouldn’t be shocked to see actors in motion in early January.
