Is Robin in The Batman sequel? James Gunn speaks out on the latest rumor sweeping the net about the Boy Wonder’s appearance on the silver screen.
The rumor mill has long churned with details about the upcoming sequel to The Batman. While most have been proven as bunk given James Gunn only recently received the script for the sequel, there’s been one aspect that seemed to pervade almost every report about the film: Robin will appear in it. Details have been inconsistent on the who, where, and how, but the Boy Wonder has always been on the top of minds of leakers and fans.
This rumor was reignited once more recently when veteran film reporter Jeff Sneider confirmed that Robin would play a role in The Batman‘s sequel. While the scooper didn’t reveal much more about the character’s role for the film, it put the internet into a frenzy speculating on how the iconic sidekick will be adapted on the silver screen.
Is Robin In The Batman Sequel?
The rumor actually got so popular that James Gunn, the co-head of the new DC Universe and producer of The Batman sequel, went on social media to weigh in. While the director didn’t outright debunk claims that Robin would be in the film, he did point out that less than a dozen people have read the script, so any “rumor” is little more than guess work.
“Guys, please stop believing this nonsense,” Gunn wrote on Threads. “I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about The Batman 2.”
It’s still possible that this rumor is true, given just how often Robin has been brought up in discourse around the sequel. However, it’s also equally likely that, if it is true, all of that talk simply made it a safe bet for scoopers to throw into any round-up to increase their credibility.
The Batman sequel is currently set to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe, and make sure to stay tuned to our YouTube channel for more content.
