The Batman star Zoe Kravitz teased her version of Catwoman and revealed which actress to play the role before inspires her.
Warner Bros.’ The Batman will find Robert Pattinson’s Caped Crusader crossing paths with multiple characters from the DC hero’s rogues’ gallery, including Zoe Kravitz’ Selina Kyle / Catwoman. While details on what role Zoe Kravitz’ Catwoman will play in The Batman are being kept under lock and key, the actress did discuss the character during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour.
While Zoe Kravitz could not reveal too much about Catwoman, she did note that she’s excited to explore the strong feminity she believes the character represents. Furthermore, Zoe Kravitz compared the feminine power Catwoman embodies to the masculine power represented by Batman:
“I think femininity represents power, and I think it’s a different kind of power than masculine power. That’s something that’s really interesting about Batman and Catwoman. I think Batman represents a very kind of masculine power, and Catwoman represents very feminine power — slightly more complicated, and softer, too. I like the idea that you can be soft, you can be gentle and still be very powerful and still be very dangerous.”
Of course, Zoe Kravitz in the just latest actress to take on the iconic Catwoman and many of the past performers have received acclaimed for their interpretation. However, Zoe Kravitz revealed that Michelle Pfeiffer’s performance as Catwoman in Batman Returns has always inspired her:
“I think Catwoman is an iconic character. I was never into a lot of comic books, but that world was always really intriguing to me. And then of course Michelle Pfeiffer — her performance has always been super inspiring to me. It just felt iconic.”
Us Weekly’s Emily Longeretta also noted that Zoe Kravitz confirmed she cut her hair specifically for the Catwoman role.
