Homelander is looking rather studious! Antony Starr reveals the first look of his iconic villain in a set photo for season 5 of The Boys.
Production on season 5 of The Boys has been chugging along rather smoothly. While a rather disturbing set photo or two have found their way onto the net, there’s been a shocking lack of leaks for what has become one of the biggest superhero projects on TV. This includes a surprising lack of footage featuring the heroes and villains of the story, such as Antony Starr’s Homelander and Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher.
Yet as filming continues on, some fun details are finding their way out. This includes an exclusive set photo from Antony Starr himself, which gives fans their first look at Homelander heading into season 5. As expected, the villain doesn’t have any radical costume changes, something The Boys has been known for when compared to other superhero projects. However, it does at least reveal that the supe isn’t going to be falling apart too quickly in the upcoming outing.
Homelander’s Fate In The Boys Season 5
The entire driving factor of The Boys has been Billy Butcher’s desire to kill Homelander. With the show ending after season 5, it’s more likely than not this Chekov’s Gun will be fired, leading to the death of Antony Starr’s iconic villain. And given how wild the final few issues of the comic got, it’s likely going to pay homage to the source material, while not sticking too closely to it.
The only thing confirmed by this set photo is that The Boys is likely saving Homelander’s death until the finale, given they’re already deep into production on season 5 and Antony Starr’s character is still alive and well. Most likely, the villain won’t be biting the dust until the finale, serving as one final supe death to cap off one of the most gruesome shows currently on streaming platforms.
