Could Antony Starr be joining the DC Universe? The iconic actor from The Boys responded to a recent fan casting of him playing Booster Gold.
Fan casting that has been taking the internet by storm lately has been the idea that Antony Starr, best known for his role as Homelander on The Boys, could play Booster Gold in the DC Universe. This idea seems to come from the fact that he recently followed James Gunn on Instagram and is also blonde, an idea that the actor was quick to poke fun at in a recent interview.
“Booster Gold. What does he do? No, tell me. I genuinely don’t [know]. I’m a little slow.” Starr asked during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “Does he got blonde hair? Wow, how did you come up with that? You really dug deep for that one.”
A response like that suggests that this particular fan casting is dead in the water. However, given Antony Starr is best known for playing a sociopath on The Boys, it’s likely that’s the best-case scenario for Booster Gold fans. However, the bad news may not end there, as Starr spoke on his thoughts on playing a different super-powered character in the DC Universe after Homelander.
Could Antony Starr Join The DC Universe?
Even if he’s not playing Booster Gold, there are literally hundreds of characters Antony Starr could play in the DC Universe. Another popular fan casting is actually the Reverse Flash, given how similar some incarnations are to Homelander. However, it seems Antony Starr may be ready to hang up the spandex for good after The Boys ends.
“I’m getting old, and my body doesn’t want to do much action anymore,” Starr explained. “I want to sit and go, ‘Hey, you can’t do that stuff.’ I want to sit behind a desk on a CSI show [Laughs].”
It’s a shame Antony Starr has no plans to join the DC Universe once The Boys is wrapped up. Homelander is largely considered one of the best villains in modern superhero media. It would’ve been amazing to see Starr flex his acting muscles on the big screen, but his superhero days are almos tover.
