The team almost looked very different in The Fantastic Four: First Steps! New concept art reveals early designs for the First Family’s suits in the MCU.
Despite only being out for a little under a month, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has already become infamous for the amount of cut content it has. And with concept art slowly finding its way onto the net, fans are finally finding out that the MCU’s most recent film could have looked much, much different than how it came out.
Perhaps the biggest point of contention has been the team’s suits. The most well-known complaint is that the classic suits were relegated to a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in the final film. However, it seems that the group almost wore completely different costumes throughout the entirety of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, leaning closer into the MCU’s usual design sensibilities.
The Early Space Suits For The Fantastic Four
It wasn’t just the team’s super suits that got changed from the concept art to the screen. Their space suits also had a redesign, albeit fairly minor when compared to what was officially shown in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. These suits would’ve been much more white than blue, lining up with other space suits seen throughout the MCU like in Avengers: Endgame.
When compared to other MCU movies with scrapped concept art designs, The Fantastic Four: First Steps got off relatively Scott-free. The final suits seen in the film are broadly loved by fans, and merch for them has been flying off the shelves. So while it’s a shame fans will likely never see these suits on the silver screen, they did get the better end of the stick.
