It’s a rumor so mundane that most likely won’t remember it by the time the film comes out, but it does provide some interesting details.

If this rumor is true, there’s two directions that Marvel could play this. However, there is a more interesting angle for this rumor. It would have been easy for Marvel to get Robert Downey Jr. to make a small cameo as Doctor Doom. The deliberate decision to leave the chair visibly empty in The Fantastic Four: First Steps could be a signal that a new Doctor Doom actor could be on his way after Avengers: Doomsday.
