Does Marvel truly understand The Fantastic Four? Kevin Feige reveals what the upcoming reboot of the franchise will focus on as filming ramps up.
Marvel’s upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four is set to start filming in just a few short weeks. While fans have been ecstatic about the casting, some revelations about the use of CGI in the project have made people worry about how good the project will actually look. Luckily, Kevin Feige was quick to assure fans that they’re putting special care into how the First Family looks.
“Matt Shakman is very, very good at utilizing visual effects,” Feige explained in a recent interview with Cinemablend. “The most important thing for us… the stretching’s gotta look cool, the rocky exterior of The Thing has got to look cool, the flames have got to look cool.”
The internet is likely relieved to hear that Kevin Feige is putting special attention on the stretching specifically, especially since many fans speculated the studio changed Ms. Marvel‘s powers due to a lack of confidence in making them look good. However, while it’s important that The Fantastic Four looks good, it’s clear that’s not that studio’s focus in the reboot.
The Fantastic Four Focuses On Family
While fans have enjoyed prior incarnations of The Fantastic Four for what they were, Marvel has never captured the team’s essence on the big screen. Kevin Feige seems aware of this, as he would go on to clarify that the reboot puts a strong focus on family and the dynamics between the characters.
“It’s all about the characters,” Feige continued. “It’s all about the family. It’s all about [those] dynamics. So the minute we got that cast that we’ve announced signed up, 90 percent of the work was done. That is what the focus is of the movie.”
Given how spot-on the casting for The Fantastic Four has been, it likely won’t be hard for Kevin Feige and the reboot’s crew to capture some truly fantastic moments between the cast. Marvel has a lot of good will to make up, not just from their recent movies, but prior cracks at their first super team. The internet will likely remain skeptical, but this is certainly a good sign.
The Fantastic Four opens on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned for all the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
