‘The Flash’: Entire DC Universe Movie Was Leaked On Twitter

More bad news for The Flash!

Ezra Miller The Flash

Streaming movies on your phone has never been easier in the modern age of smart phones. However, perhaps it’s gotten too simple, with the entirety of DC’s The Flash being leaked on to Twitter.

Yes, before The Flash could even finish its second week at the box office, the entire movie was leaked through a camera recording on Twitter. While the leaked film has since been removed, it lasted a shocking 8 hours on the platform, giving users plenty of time to pirate to their heart’s content. During that time, the Tweet got a massive 1.7 million views.

The Flash has been haunted by footage leaks since before its release. The massive amount of free screenings for the film gave general audiences ample opportunity to film short snippets without being caught, including the film’s controversial cameos. Now with the film crashing at the box office, empty theaters give pirates a golden opportunity to record with impunity.

It’s not likely that this leak sealed The Flash as a box office flop more than it already was. A Twitter post having 1.7 million viewers doesn’t mean that every person who saw the tweet watched the film, nor is it likely the people willing to watch the film with handheld camera quality didn’t already see it during its opening weekend. However, this does serve as yet another fumble in the comedy of errors that have plagued The Flash since it began production.

The Flash’s DC Universe future

Warner Bros. Discovery already has a script for a potential sequel to The Flash, written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, the man behind the two Aquaman movies starring Jason Momoa. However, James Gunn and Peter Safran did not discuss the Flash sequel during their DC Universe presentation.

Directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson, The Flash is inspired by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, which followed Barry Allen as he navigated an altered DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kuber, Flashpoint radically altered the status of the DC Comics universe and led to the launch of the New 52 titles.

In addition to Ezra Miller, The Flash also features Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two separate versions of Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as Faora-Ul and Sasha Calle as Supergirl.
