The Lego Movie and It producer Dan Lin is in talks to take over as the head of Warner Bros. Discovery’s DC branch.

To call the state of Warner Bros Discovery a mess might be an understatement. It all started with the company opting to shelve the DC HBO Max Batgirl film and the hits kept on rolling. Many shows and films were removed from HBO Max, supposedly so the company could write them off on their taxes. As a result, the value of the company has dropped by $23B. In addition, the company delayed the DC films Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This was apparently because they could not afford to market any more films this year outside of Black Adam. However, it is very possible that this might be part of a longer-term plan.

Earlier this month, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed that the company was attempting to form a long-term plan for DC. This included coming up with a 10-year plan for any and all upcoming films as well as finding a head of a DC division similar to what Marvel and Disney had with Kevin Feige. Now it appears that they have found it in producer Dan Lin..

DC’s Kevin Feige?

Dan Lin is a producer with a resume that extends all the way back to the mid-2000s. His name was apparently brought up late in the search for a DC head but was championed by Alan Horn. He’s been a producer on many successful projects which includes but are not limited to, The Lego Movie, It, It: Chapter 2, Sherlock Holmes, The Lego Batman Movie, and many others. If the deal goes through Dan Lin will report directly to CEO David Zaslav and will have control over DC’s film and television properties. Current DC Films President Walter Hamada would transition out of the role as Lin takes over.
