‘The Punisher’: Ben Barnes Wants One Change For Jigsaw Return

The last piece of the puzzle?

Ben Barnes Jigsaw The Punisher

Jon Bernthal is officially set to reprise his role as The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again. Now Ben Barnes, who played Jigsaw in Netflix’s The Punisher, has revealed the one change he’d make to his character if he appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Recently, rumors have been circulating suggesting that Jon Bernthal will be getting his own The Punisher revival following his MCU debut in Daredevil: Born Again. This has led to speculation that other characters from The Punisher could find their way into the Marvel universe, none moreso than Ben Barnes’ Jigsaw, who served as Frank Castle’s foil in the series. When speaking in an interview with SFX Magazine, Barnes revealed he’d love to return, just so long as he got a more comic-accurate look:

“I loved playing Jigsaw,” Barnes spoke. “I’d love to reframe him and really mess his face up this time.”

In the comics, Jigsaw’s face is often depicted as extremely grotesque, having been stitched together by doctors after being thrown through glass. While The Punisher tried its best, the Netflix version of the character only ended with a handful of scars, despite Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle mutilating the face of Ben Barnes’ character on a carousel. Though unless the rumor of a new Punisher series ends up being true, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing Jigsaw among the Netflix actors returning for Daredevil: Born Again.

What to expect from the new Daredevil series

Little is known of Daredevil: Born Again, with plot details being kept under wraps. Jon Bernthal, Sandrine Holt, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Nikki M. James and Michael Gaston are set to appear in the series opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are writing and executive producing for Marvel.

Unfortunately for fans of Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page, it has been confirmed that neither character will be returning for Daredevil: Born Again. The news has been met with disappointment from fans, as both characters played significant roles in the original Netflix series. However, it’s important to remember that the series is still in its early stages, and there’s always a chance that the characters could make a surprise appearance in future seasons.

Daredevil: Born Again is currently scheduled to premiere in Spring 2024 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
