The Punisher is getting some major firepower! The latest Spider-Man: Brand New Day rumor suggests that Frank Castle will upgrade his arsenal in the upcoming film.
Fans were shocked when it was confirmed that the rumor of The Punisher and Hulk appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day was true. Mostly because, for as much as fans have wanted both characters to interact with the web-head more in the MCU, almost nobody was calling for them to appear together. This, of course, is due to the massive power disparity between the characters.
However, it seems as though The Punisher may be preparing to even the playing field. A new rumor from Hollywood insider MyTimeToShineHello suggests that the character will be getting a “major upgrade” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day to compete with the heightened power level of the film. While the scooper doesn’t specify what they mean by upgrade, it was enough to make fans go wild.
What Is The Punisher’s Upgrade In Spider-Man?
The idea that many fans immediately flocked to upon hearing the rumor is that The Punisher will be donning an Iron Man armor in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Frank Castle has donned Stark’s suits multiple times in the comics, so it certainly wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility. However, given how closely this version of Spider-Man has been tied to Iron Man in the past, it may not be Marvel’s first choice.
Assuming that The Punisher doesn’t steal any other hero’s weapons, the most likely answer to this rumor is that Frank Castle will be donning his iconic minigun. The weapon has been a staple in the character’s comics, and recently gained more prominence as a core part of the character’s arsenal in Marvel Rivals. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day clearly drawing from all corners of Spider-Man media, bringing the minigun into play is more than the obvious answer: It’s the only one.
