The Super Mario Bros. Movie. had the most unique television spot at this year’s Super Bowl.

The trailers for the upcoming animated Super Mario Bros. movie have been met with both excitement and skepticism by fans of the classic video game franchise. The movie revolves around Mario and Luigi as they navigate through the fantastical world of the Mushroom Kingdom and face off against the evil Bowser. Chris Pratt and Charlie Day voice the titular brothers while Jack Black provides his talents to their arch-nemesis. Watch the Super Bowl spot below.

The people behind the animated movie have done an excellent job of capturing the spirit of the video games while also bringing something fresh to the table. Chris Pratt’s Mario casting was recently criticized by John Leguizamo, the original cinematic Luigi. Leguizamo played the iconic Nintendo character in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. movie, which also featured the late Bob Hoskins as Mario.

Who else is attached to the Super Mario Bros. movie?

In addition to Chris Pratt, Charlie Day and Jack Black, The Super Mario Bros. Movie also features Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike. The movie is being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic from a script by Matthew Fogel.

Nintendo and Universal are co-financing The Super Mario Bros. Movie, with the latter handling the distribution. Illumination, which is co-owned by Universal, has previously worked on Despicable MeMinionsThe Secret Life of Pets, and Sing.
