‘The Walking Dead’ Actor Joins ‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 5

Dwight The Walking Dead

Comicbook recently reported that Actor Austin Amelio, who played Dwight in The Walking Dead, is joining Fear The Walking Dead.

If you’re not up to speed on The Walking Dead series, Dwight was exiled by Darryl Dixon in the Season Eight’s finale so he’s been absent from the show since then and throughout Season Nine of the show. He started as one of Negan’s most trusted men in The Saviors and then he had several run-ins with Rick Grimes’ group. It’s also worth saying he’s one of the most recognizable characters in TWD for the noticeable scars on his face.

Amelio’s Dwight isn’t the first one to transition from TWD to Fear. Lennie James’ Morgan Jones also made a starring appearance on the show after leaving Rick’s group. Aside from these two characters, the show has seen its original roster changed from season to season. These transitions aim to further deepen the link between both shows and tell more stories about characters that fans enjoy.

Both shows have received fairly mixed critical reception. On one hand, although The Walking Dead started strong with its first seasons, audience ratings seem to have fallen after the last few seasons because they’ve lacked the strong storytelling that earlier seasons had. It seems AMC wants to keep the series going even though they’re catching up to its comicbook counterpart pretty quickly.

On the other hand, Fear The Walking Dead has stayed its steady course during four seasons, keeping fans invested in the series since it doesn’t have a comicbook background as The Walking Dead series does. This allows more surprising stories that keep fans engaged.
