New images shared by Luca Vanella, a hair stylist on Thor: Love and Thunder, offer a better look at some of the film’s gods, including Black Panther‘s Wakandan goddess Bast.
Bast appears fleetingly in Thor: Love and Thunder, taking on a human appearance for the first time in MCU canon. The goddess can be seen alongside the other gods in Omnipotence City, seated just in front of Thor, Jane, Korg and Valkyrie.
While her role in the film is fleeting, the new image shared by Luca Vanella reveals the intricate headpiece, makeup and costume worn by Bast.
Bast: Wakanda’s Goddess
In a post on Twitter, Luca Vanella shared a collection of images that showcase the intricate wigs created for Thor: Love and Thunder, particularly those worn by the gods of Omnipotence City.
Bast is Wakanda’s panther goddess, first mentioned by T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War and briefly glimpsed in the opening to Black Panther. Thor: Love and Thunder marks her first physical appearance in the MCU, played by Akosia Sabet.

While she only appears briefly, Bast’s inclusion in Thor: Love and Thunder is a fun detail that highlights Marvel Studios’ continued commitment to interconnectivity in the MCU. This brief cameo may also open the door to further appearances from Bast in this form in future Black Panther movies.
Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:
The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the Thor solo film stars Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Taika Waititi, Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
