Is Sentry the key to Avengers: Doomsday? The Thunderbolts director teases how the upcoming film may impact the finale of the Multiverse Saga.

As one of the last films released before the massive status quo change that is Avengers: Doomsday, Thunderbolts slides through the quickly closing door to make a truly impactful change to the MCU during the Multiverse Saga. Though given the subject matter of the film, all eyes are on one character when it comes to how they can affect they broader universe: Sentry.

While the character has still yet to be named in any official capacity, Sentry is being set up as the most powerful threat the MCU has ever seen. And given the stakes leading into Avengers: Doomsday, that’s a level of power that can greatly shift the tides of war. This is something that isn’t lost on Thunderbolts director Jake Schreier, even if he can’t say exactly how the two films connect.

“There might be some stones, or pebbles,” Schreier explains to VFX Magazine. “I don’t know how you want to rate your rocks. Look, you know the character that we’re talking about, and you know that there’s a level of power involved there that could have an impact going forward. I’m not making Doomsday so I’m not privy to that.”

Is Sentry In Avengers: Doomsday?

The only things fans know for sure is that the Thunderbolts cast, including Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, have been confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. As for what role they’ll play in the Multiverse Saga’s two-part finale, it’s unclear. Though given rumors of incursions and evil variants of Avengers, it’s likely that the MCU’s Dark Avengers equivalent will play some role in fighting back against them.

Most likely, if Sentry is to take on any evil version of a hero in Avengers: Doomsday, it would be the Hulk. While certainly not the same circumstances, it would be a way of adapting their iconic World War Hulk fight into the MCU. It would also allow the character to flex his full strength, something he’ll likely be unable to do during the events of Thunderbolts.

Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
