Tim Roth recently discussed coming back to play Abomination in the upcoming She-Hulk series for Disney Plus.

Thanks to the expansion to television, Marvel Studios is bringing back many notable characters from past films with more content on the way. One of the most significant returns is The Incredible Hulk villain Abomination, played by Tim Roth in the 2008 film. Tim Roth recently returned in Shang-Chi and will be seen again in the upcoming She-Hulk series. In an interview with Uproxx, Tim Roth shared his reaction to getting called back to play the character again:

“Well, honestly, it totally surprised me. I went in to chat with Kevin Feige, and he said, ‘I’ve got an idea. Come in.’ Really? Really? Because the original thing that I did, when I did that first Incredible Hulk movie, was I just did it for my kids. And back then, no one knew what the MCU was going to be. And that was the second movie. In a way, it was pre-Iron Man. It hadn’t come out. And that was when they figured it out. Figured out, ‘Oh, that’s how you do it.’ And then they worked it out. Some of them better than others, whatever, but they worked it out. For me, Wolverine and very much Deadpool. So. it was just for my kids when they were little.”

Tim Roth also recalled the “blast” he had playing Abomination again and praised She-Hulk star Tatiana Maslany:

“So I was amazed when they came back around and said, ‘How would you feel about…’ And I went, ‘Yeah. All right!’ And we just shot it, I guess in the summer last year or whatever. I think that they’re in post now doing it, so whenever. Bonus, I got to work with Mark Ruffalo. Awesome. Who I love. And I don’t know if I’m allowed to say. Oh, I can say that. But this extraordinary woman, Tatiana… who is She-Hulk… incredible, that woman. So that was a blast. It was insane.”

In Shang-Chi, it appears Tim Roth’s new-look Abomination is working with Wong after we see him return to a facility after their fight in Macau. This may lead to Abomination working with Bruce Banner and Jennifer Walters in She-Hulk.

Before She-Hulk comes out, you can see Tim Roth’s Abomination return in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Here is the film’s synopsis:

Shang-Chi must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script written by David Callaham, Shang-Chi stars Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh, Ben Kingsley, and Tony Leung.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings is available on home media formats. She-Hulk will hit Disney Plus later this year.
