‘Titans’ Star Ryan Potter Reveals Why Beast Boy Isn’t Green Yet

Titans Beast Boy Ryan Potter

Titans star Ryan Potter revealed in a recent interview why Beast Boy isn’t green yet in the upcoming DC Universe original series.

Titans is set to premiere this week on DC Universe and when the show begins, Robin, Hawk, and Dove appear to be the only costumed heroes. Beast Boy has been seen in the footage released wearing a coat with the same color scheme as his original costume from the comics and sporting green hair. Potter explained in an interview with Pop Culturalist from New York Comic-Con 2018 why Beast Boy isn’t completely green yet:

“I think everyone’s first reaction was ‘Why isn’t he green?’ and there is a very good reason why he is not green. He is not Beast Boy yet to be 100 percent honest. He is still Garfield Logan and Garfield Logan knows how to turn into a tiger and he’s like, ‘Cool, I’m happy with that.’ He lives with Doom Patrol and that’s where he is at. He is not changed, he is not Beast Boy, he is first in a number of things because he lives with a very interesting family. He’s had a very interesting stepfather and an interesting childhood so he is not incompetent but he is not who we know him to be…he’ll get there.”

Titans follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

The series stars Brenton Thwaites as Richard “Dick” Grayson / Robin, Anna Diop as Koriand’r / Starfire, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth / Raven, and Ryan Potter as Garfield “Gar” Logan / Beast Boy.

Titans premieres Friday, October 12 on DC Universe.
