Todd McFarlane has teased that big, unannounced talent will be joining the production of his upcoming Spawn film from Blumhouse.
The road to Todd McFarlane’s Spawn film has been a long one and it is by no means over. The film was officially announced back in 2017 with Blumhouse Productions backing the film. After a few announcements that included adding Avengers Star Jeremey Renner and Jamie Fox to the cast, news on the Spawn film became hard to come by.
Todd McFarlane blamed these delays on a number of things, which included creative differences with studios and his own inability to write a script that would impress. The success of Joaquin Phonix’s R-Rated Joker film, however, has given the director new hope that the film may get made. Now he is teasing that the upcoming film has added big talent to the production.
During Joe Q’s Mornin’ Warm Up stream, Todd McFarlane talked about the upcoming Spawn film and said that movement on the film was happening and teased that they had some big people involved in the film’s production:
“I know that people are saying that, ‘Todd, you talk a lot about the movie and the Hollywood stuff and nothing’s really happening,’ and that’s not true. Especially with production being shut down. I can tell you right now there is momentum going on Spawn, the movie, and I’m not just saying that on my end, I’m saying that the things you need to do to eventually get to the point where you’re going to get into production once COVID allows us to get into production, all those things are going on right now and we’re adding talent, big, big talent that we haven’t announced yet. I wish I could but I can’t.”

Todd McFarlane’s Spawn reboot does not currently have a release date. Avengers star Jeremy Renner was originally set to play Twitch with Jamie Fox to play Spawn. Todd McFarlane is set to write and direct the film with Bloomhouse Productions backing the picture.
