Tom Hanks has revealed that he hasn’t been contacted by Marvel Studios for a role in the MCU.
Tom Hanks is an actor whose career has spanned decades and has dipped into many genres. The actor started out in the 80s doing mostly comedy roles before branching out into more dramatic parts. Typically, however, the actor tends to avoid major franchises outside of his role as Woody in the Toy Story films.
The Actor Hasn’t Been Contacted My Marvel
Recently the actor portrayed the character of Geppetto in Robert Zemekis’ live-action remake of Pinocchio. While promoting the film, the inevitable question of potential involvement in a Marvel film came up. While speaking to the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Tom Hanks stated that, to his knowledge, Marvel Studios had not approached him for a role in any of the films:
“No! Not to my knowledge, have they…I do not know, I do not know. Boy, talk about coin of the realm, you know, it’s like holy cow!”
Tom Hanks then went on to praise Marvel Studios and what they did with the Marvel Cinematic Universe:
“Look, I haven’t seen them all, I’ll give you that right now. But the ones I’ve seen, I’ve never come away from it without thinking ‘There’s a couple of great performances in there, man, those people really gave their all.’ I don’t know how they do that, I do not know. And then, after that, it’s like, ‘Did they examine the theme that I wanted to be seen?’ And I can tell you, all of them are quite good, Josh, they’re all quite good.”
