Tom Hardy has given fans a first tease of the upcoming third Venom movie, suggesting it may conclude the franchise with an appearance from Spider-Man.
Taking to Instagram to share an update on Venom 3‘s progress, Tom Hardy posted an image of the script’s cover, though without a title. In place of the title was a hand-drawn image of Venom’s face, with a long red tongue protruding and turning into a “3.” However, between the Venom face and the 3, the tongue appeared to twist into the shape of an “S.” Given its red coloring, this could be a hint that a certain wall-crawler is joining the Venom franchise.
Spider-Man & Venom: Together At Last?
When sharing the image on his Instagram story, Tom Hardy also added a “Last Dance” sticker, potentially hinting Venom 3 will be the end of the series. If this is the finale to a Venom trilogy, then the long-awaited addition of Spider-Man could bring the franchise to its perfect conclusion.
While this may all be speculation over nothing, or a deliberate misdirect on Tom Hardy’s part, the image gives very little else away about the upcoming third Venom film. The tease of Spidey’s inclusion is something that might justify sharing such an image on social media. Check out Hardy’s post below:
Reportedly, Tom Holland was at one point due to appear in 2018’s Venom for a Peter Parker cameo. He eventually did appear, albeit only on a television screen, in a post-credits scene for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which saw Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock transported from his universe into the MCU. While this seemed to set up a crossover in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, Hardy’s role in that film was ultimately also confined to a post-credits scene, which saw him return to his own universe (though a little bit of the Venom symbiote was left behind). Could Venom 3 finally see the two characters meet?
Here is the synopsis for Venom: Let There Be Carnage:
Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of MARVEL’S greatest and most complex characters. In search of his next big story, journalist Eddie Brock lands an exclusive interview with convicted murderer and death row inmate Cletus Kasady (Woody Harrelson), who discovers Eddie’s secret and becomes the host for Carnage, a menacing and terrifying symbiote.
Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, the film stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson.
