Tom Holland admitted that he regrets not calling Andrew Garfield after being cast as Spider-Man.
Before No Way Home, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was the last time we saw Andrew Garfield as the character. The Spider-Man role was quickly recast after Garfield’s last apperance with Tom Holland, who debuted in Captain America: Civil War.
Off the heels of Andrew Garfield’s return as Spider-Man in No Way Home, many are excited about the possibility of a continuation, including Tom Holland. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Holland looked back on taking over the role from Garfield and regrets not contacting him back then:
“I could not be happier for him. Something I can look back on now with a little bit of clarity and regret is that I never called him when I took over as Spider-Man. Had someone said to me after my second movie that I was done and this other kid was taking over, I would’ve been heartbroken. So looking back, I wish I had the chance to make amends with him, but this film was our opportunity.”
Here is the synopsis for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
