Tom Holland has stated that he would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3 with Andrew Garfield returning to the titular role.
Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man films did not have the best time. When they were released the first film was otherwise critically well received and did decently at the box office. However, it was negatively compared to Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films which had concluded less than five years earlier. The second film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, was savaged by critics and failed to earn the amount of money that Sony was hoping for, resulting in the scrapping of all of the company’s plans.
Soon after, Tom Holland was cast as Spider-Man for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and made his first appearance in the 2016 film, Captain America: Civil War. For his third solo outing, both Tobey Maguire’s and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Spider-Man joined Holland’s in a battle against villains from across the multiverse. Reception to Garfield’s return has overall been extremely positive and many have been clamoring for Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Now Tom Holland has added his voice to this.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com Tom Holland stated that he would love to see Andrew Garfield return for The Amazing Spider-Man 3:
“I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3. I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back. That scene where he saved Zendaya like the fan reactions in the theater, was so spectacular. So, should Sony decide to do that? They would have my full support, and obviously, so would Andrew.”
Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”
