Did the internet twist the facts when it came to Tom Holland’s concussion? The actor’s father reveals the truth of his injury while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
One of the biggest stories to come out this past month was the news that Tom Holland has received a concussion during the production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Reports suggested that the actor was taken to the hospital alongside a woman from the crew where he was ultimately determined to be fine, though still took a few days off from filming any more of the project.
Yet it seems the details of his story may be closer to fiction than fact. The Brothers Trust, a charity ran by the parents of Tom Holland, recently made a post about the true nature of his concussion. While the post did confirm that Holland received a mild injury while filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there was no ambulance ride, and no other members of the crew were injured.
“Reading the stories in the media of Tom’s ‘horrendous injury’ – brought to mind the adage that one should never believe what is written in the newspapers. They had almost everything wrong, citing an ambulance driver who had picked up the ‘stricken star’ from Leavesden Film Studios in North London.”
“Er…There was no ambulance, and Spider-Man Brand New Day is not being filmed at Leavesden Studio. Perhaps this mystery ambulance driver had a concussion also. ‘A mystery woman was also injured in the accident…’ Nope.”
Tom Holland’s Concussion On Set
The rest of the post goes on to detail how Tom Holland discovered his concussion during a charity event, cutting his appearance short to return home. The post also reveals that Holland is recovering well, suggesting that production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day may be picking back up sooner rather than later.
Ultimately, it doesn’t seem as though this concussion will cause major disruptions to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, nor does it seem to be leaving any immediately severe damage with Tom Holland. It seems as though, if there’s anything to learn from this, it’s that even major trades can get some details wrong when covering a story.
