Sony has released the first official teaser trailer for their Uncharted adaptation, which stars Tom Holland as the famed adventurer Nathan Drake.

After going through half a dozen directors and writers, the Uncharted adaptation is finally on its way to cinemas. Based on the PlayStation videogame franchise of the same name, the Uncharted film is set to be an origin story for the looter and shooter Nathan Drake. The film stars Tom Holland as Drake, with Mark Wahlberg as his partner-in-crime and mentor Sully.

The trailer shows how Sully and Nathan Drake meet and how they band together in search of a treasure that Nate’s brother Sam was after. Antonio Banderas’ villain is also after the treasure, which is set to be worth $5 billion.

The trailer is filled to the brim with action sequences, some directly lifted from the games. Tom Holland’s Uncharted isn’t directly adapting any of the games but it’s clear that they’re borrowing heavily from sequences in the game, like the goosebumps-inducing plane sequence, which is directly lifted from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Based on the PlayStation video game series of the same name, the film is set to chronicle the first encounter between Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake and the fortune seeker and businessman Victor Sullivan. The film is reportedly influenced by a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

Directed by Venom helmer Reuben Fleischer from a script written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, Uncharted is being produced by Sony PlayStation Productions, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing alongside Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.

Uncharted will be released in theaters on February 11th, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Sony’s Uncharted and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
