Tom Holland issued a statement in which he assured fans that the Spider-Man film series is in “safe hands” despite the Sony and Disney split.
Last month, Disney and Sony’s negotiations to continue co-producing the Tom Holland Spider-Man fell apart after the latter rejected the former’s 50/50 co-financing proposal. As a result, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will no longer serve as a creative lead on the Spider-Man films and Sony will retain sole control over the direction of the Tom Holland film series.
Of course, fans are divided over whether or not Sony can successfully continue the Spider-Man film series without the guidance of Marvel Studios. However, Tom Holland issued a statement to GQ on the recent split between Disney and Sony in which he assured fans that Spider-Man is still in good hands despite Marvel Studios’ absence:
“I’m not shy about expressing how incredible the last five years have been with Marvel. […] I’ve truly had the time of my life, and in so many respects, they have made my dreams come true as an actor. Sony has also been really good to me, and the global success of Spider-Man: Far From Home is a real testament to their support, skill and commitment. The legacy and future of Spidey rests in Sony’s safe hands. I really am nothing but grateful, and I’ve made friends for life along the way.”
