Not a shocker.

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home has already hit the $1 billion mark at the global box office in under two weeks since it hit theaters.

As expected, Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: No Way Home is already the biggest box office success of the pandemic era. The film, which stars Tom Holland as the titular superhero has officially crossed a massive milestone: the $1 billion mark.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first film to hit the $1 billion mark at the global box office since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It is also the first film to hit the milestone amidst the ongoing pandemic. Tying with Avengers: Infinity War for reaching the milestone in 11 days, the Tom Holland film is also right behind Avengers: Endgame as the fastest to hit that number.

Domestically, Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man: No Way Home is expected to earn around $92 million to $100 million in its second weekend, easily leading the Christmas moviegoing competition with new releases such as The Matrix Resurrections and Sing 2 vying for the second place spot.

Notably, Spider-Man: No Way Home achieves this milestone without a release in China, which is currently the world’s leading market in moviegoing. Given the minimal competition in the next few weeks, Tom Holland’s film is expected to continue topping the box office charts for quite some time.

Here is the synopsis for Spider-Man: No Way Home:

“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero’s identity is revealed, bringing his Super Hero responsibilities into conflict with his normal life and putting those he cares about most at risk. When he enlists Doctor Strange’s help to restore his secret, the spell tears a hole in their world, releasing the most powerful villains who’ve ever fought a Spider-Man in any universe. Now, Peter will have to overcome his greatest challenge yet, which will not only forever alter his own future but the future of the Multiverse.”

Directed by Jon Watts from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, Martin Starr, J.B. Smoove, Marisa Tomei, Jon Favreau, Benedict Wong, Benedict Cumberbatch, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, and Jamie Foxx, Thomas Haden Church, Rhys Ifans, Charlie Cox, with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
