The third installment in Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man film series, Spider-Man: No Way Home, became the sixth highest grossing film of all time and now its total net profit has been revealed.
Spider-Man: No Way Home surpassed all expectations, ushering millions of fans back into cinemas for a film that crossed the boundaries of cinematic universes and saw the return of characters and actors from past Spider-Man franchises, including Alfred Molina’s Dock Ock and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin. Most excitingly, the film saw Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire return as their versions of Spider-Man alongside Tom Holland’s current iteration. While the return of the past Spider-Men was never confirmed before the film’s release, rumors and leaked images drove fan fervor and saw the film grossing well over $1.8 billion worldwide.
A new report from Deadline has now confirmed the film’s total profits from those impressive box office takings. After all ancillaries, such as production and marketing costs, Spider-Man: No Way Home generated a total net profit of $610 million, making it Sony’s most profitable movie of all time. For comparison, this is more than triple Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s $200 million profits and nearly double Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s $339 million.
The MCU’s Spider-Man films are the product of a groundbreaking collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures and the incredible success of No Way Home is proof of what that collaboration between studios and the sharing of intellectual property can achieve. With two previous Spidey franchises to draw upon and the world of the MCU serving as the film’s backdrop, Spider-Man: No Way Home defied all expectations and proved far more successful than any other Spider-Man movie – or any solo superhero movie – in history.
