Spider-Man star Tom Holland opened up about the possibility of a future team-up with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.
Spider-Man: No Way Home made the unprecedented creative choice in bridging together three different generations of webheads. The Tom Holland threequel saw Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s respective versions of Peter Parker popping up thanks to the multiverse. Arguably the highlight of the film, the return of both actors was widely praised across the board, and fans are eager to see when they’ll pop up next.
Rumors have suggested that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will continue to pop up throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. While individual returns are exciting, fans are eager to see the trio of web slingers share the screen once again.
Speaking with Variety, Tom Holland was asked if audiences would ever get to see the three different Peter Parkers share the screen once again. Holland remained coy in typical Marvel Studios fashion, teasing that anything is possible.
“It was one of those things – it was an idea for a long time and an idea that always seemed impossible. Could it happen? Of course it could happen. We’ve done it once before. Will it happen? I don’t know.”
A lot has been discussed about Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s Oscar chances and whether it can land a Best Picture nomination. Tom Holland brought up how it would be an honor to nab a nomination but that real recognition comes from the fans.
“It would be a huge honor for it to be nominated for an Oscar. But I think I can speak on behalf of everyone at Marvel and Sony and particularly [director] Jon Watts, the fan reaction that we’ve received – the love and support – is enough.”
If the return of both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire can’t convince the Academy, we’re not sure what will!
