A new poster for Uncharted sees Tom Holland recreating an iconic moment from the video game series.
After being stuck in development hell for over a decade, Sony Pictures and PlayStation are finally set to release their Uncharted adaptation next month. The critically-acclaimed action-adventure series has been a staple for the PlayStation brand since 2007 when it first launched its debut title on the PlayStation 3. Starring Tom Holland as the adventurer Nathan Drake, the live-action adaptation will serve as an origin story for the treasure hunter.
Along the way, Holland’s Nathan Drake will team up with Mark Wahlberg’s Sully, who serves as both a mentor and best friend. Alongside Sophia Ali’s Chloe Frazer, the trio will embark upon a journey to obtain a treasure that definitely leads to the riches and potential whereabouts of Nate’s brother, Sam.
The film is set to combine elements from all of the games in the franchise. One of the most talked-about set-pieces from the film seems Tom Holland’s hero hanging from cargo that’s attached to a plane. Directly lifted from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, the iconic moment is the perfect encapsulation of what the franchise has done.
With the film set to hit cinemas in just a few short weeks, Sony Pictures has released a brand new poster that shows Tom Holland hanging from the cargo of the plane, thousands of feet up in the air.
Here is the synopsis for Uncharted:
“Uncharted introduces audiences to street-smart Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and showcases his first treasure-hunting adventure with wisecracking partner Victor ‘Sully’ Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg). Inspired by the acclaimed video game series, this action-adventure epic spans the globe and follows Nate and Sully as they embark on the dangerous pursuit of ‘the greatest treasure never found’ while also tracking clues that may lead to Nate’s long-lost brother.”
Directed by Reuben Fleischer from a script written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, Uncharted is being produced by Sony PlayStation Productions, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing alongside Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad.
