The set photos from Clayface are coming in hot and heavy! Fans finally have their first look at what Tom Rhys Harries will look like in the DC Universe.
With Clayface now officially kicking off production in Glasgow, there’s been a lot of set photos hitting the net giving fans new glimpses at the DC Universe’s take on Gotham City. However, while the internet squabbles over whether or not Robert Pattinson is going to play Batman, Tom Rhys Harries has been slowly transforming into the film’s titular role.
While the first set photos showed off a relatively unscathed Tom Rhys Harries, more recent batches have shown things going terribly wrong. Namely, the actor has had some absolutely brutal SFX makeup attached to his face. While it’s not directly clear what caused the scarring, it has been confirmed that the DC Universe’s Clayface will be based on the Feat of Clay episodes from Batman The Animated Series, suggesting that a car crash may be to blame.

Tom Rhys Harries’ Transformation Into Clayface
While some may be shocked that such blatant disfiguration will be at the center of Clayface, it likely won’t be around for the entire movie. Rather, the injury to Tom Rhys’ Harries character will likely be the inciting incident for the project, or at most the first pinch in the DC Universe’s film. It’s likely that the lead will be transforming into the titular Clayface not long after this incident.
That being said, it’s not likely that set photos will capture what Tom Rhys Harries will look like following his transformation into Clayface. For as much as the DC Universe has leaned into practical effects, the nature of the character suggests that much of the body horror will be added in post-production. Though fans shouldn’t count out some potentially interesting practical close-ups!
Clayface is set to release September 11th, 2026. This project has not yet been confirmed by DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
