Tombstone & Kingpin’s Role In The Next ‘Spider-Man’ Trilogy Teased In New Marvel Report

Is Kingpin the key?

Spider-Man is taking on organized crime! A rumor suggests that both Tombstone and Kingpin are set to play key roles in the character’s upcoming trilogy.

One of the key questions fans have going into Tom Holland’s next (and final) Spider-Man trilogy is what the overarching theme will be. The first trilogy focused heavily on the character finding himself as a hero and choosing to take responsibility for his actions over what would be better for him personally. And given characters like Scorpion, Tombstone, and Boomerang are being introduced in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the question is who, if any of them, will persist in future projects.

A new rumor from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus suggests that, at the very least, Tombstone will be sticking around. While the scooper didn’t reveal too much about what role he’ll be playing in the trilogy, it’s more likely than not that he’ll be a key adversary for Spider-Man in an upcoming film. Though, if Perez’ other rumor is true, he may turn out to be an unlikely ally.

The Big Bad Of Spider-Man’s Next Trilogy

The earliest reports out of the rumor mill suggested that the next Spider-Man trilogy would conclude with a Devil’s Reign-esque storyline featuring the Kingpin. Though with news that the Mayor Fisk arc is coming to an end with Daredevil: Born Again, many have questioned the veracity of this claim. In another post, Alex Perez confirmed that Kingpin will still be a major threat in the trilogy.

“Even if he loses his mayoral seat, the power vacuum he left taking out his competition leaves him at the top of the underworld game for when he eventually returns to his enterprise. You guys need to look ahead.”

These reports can be taken as one rumor, one that paints the story of this next Spider-Man trilogy as being focused squarely on the street level. While it’s likely that elements from the broader MCU will leak into these projects (not to mention Venom), the undercurrent of the story will likely focus on mobsters like Kingpin and Tombstone vying for control of New York City.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31st, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future!
