Is Dakota Fanning finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The actress speaks out on reports that she has a role lined up in the MCU.
From Cat In The Hat to The Sun Never Sits – Dakota Fanning has been a rather consistent face in Hollywood for decades. And as with any popular actress, fans of the MCU want to see her collaborate with Marvel Studios to bring a superhero to life, with fancasts usually focusing on morally complicated mutants like Emma Frost and Polaris.
Interestingly, in the lead-up to the MCU’s Mutant Saga, rumors about Dakota Fanning meeting with Marvel Studios began to get more and more plentiful. This has led some fans to assume that, not only might the actress land one of the roles that fans have been begging for over the past decade, but that she may play a key role in the future of the franchise.
Is Dakota Fanning In The MCU?
Of course, Dakota Fanning was asked about these reports directly during a recent appearance at the SXSW film festival. When asked by The Direct if she had ever spoken with Marvel Studios for a part, Dakota Fanning sadly confirmed that she hadn’t. However, the actress did say that she’d be open to joining the MCU, even if she’s not sure that they’d actually want her.
“There hasn’t been, no. But I would be totally open to it. Sometimes I’ll see [rumors] on Instagram. I’m like, I need to call my agent to see what’s going on. But no, there hasn’t been any truth to those thus far. I’ve never really thought about it. But I’d be down! I’ll try anything. I’d do anything, if someone would have me.”
As with any of these reports that an actress is being “eyed” or “in talks” to join the MCU, it’s most likely bunk. Marvel Studios’ process for bringing on actors is both incredibly mysterious and very direct. So while it’s possible Dakota Fanning lands a role in the franchise eventually, it’s almost certain the trades will know before the rumor mill.
