Vanessa Kirby already knows how to play the Marvel game! The Sue Storm actress plays coy when asked about if her character has children in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
One of the most prevalent rumors surrounding The Fantastic Four: First Steps is that the film will focus on Sue Storm and her journey as a new mother. This lines up with set photos seen of the film last year, which seemed to show Vanessa Kirby cradling something (or someone) in her arms. Though with the film still so far out, there wasn’t much investigating that could be done.
Yet with the first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally hitting the net, everything seems to be fair game as promotion for Marvel’s upcoming film kicks off. The people at Good Morning America wasted no time in this, asking Vanessa Kirby pointblank if Sue Storm will have children in the film. Kirby expertly parried this question, simply teasing that the film leans heavily into the comic books that originally created the characters.
“You’ll have to wait and see is what I can say. It was such an honor to read her throughout the decades. I started with the very first comic and to think that many artists wrote these characters and that many people have waited week on week for the episode…to have this family as part of their lives.”
“We felt so honored to come and join it. It was amazing to read those different decades. They change so much but the characters were all there for us to make what we wanted to because they were all facets. They’re so four-dimensional in the comics that we got to live them in one movie which felt amazing.”

As previously stated, reports suggest that Vanessa Kirby will be taking the leading role as Sue Storm in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This lines up with the events of the trailer, which show Sue as the primary vector through which the audience interacts with characters like Johnny Storm and even Ben Grimm, who is usually reserved to support Reed Richards in most adaptations of the super team.
