Venom 3 is the end of the line for Tom Hardy! The film has received an updated release date along with a brand new title.
The Venom franchise is one of the few successes to come out of Sony’s collection of Spider-Man villain films. While the movies have never done astonishingly well, they have held their own, and Tom Hardy’s campy performance as Eddie Brock has found a cult following online.
However, it seems Venom 3 may be the last ride for Tom Hardy at Sony Pictures. It was recently announced that the film’s new title would be Venom: The Last Dance, with the film being pushed forward a few weeks from November 8, 2024 to October 25, 2024.
This title change shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s been following Tom Hardy on social media. Last year the actor posted on Instagram that Venom 3 would be the “last dance” as Eddie Brock, inadvertently revealing the title right under the noses of fans.
Tom Hardy May Still Return As Venom
This news may be disappointing for some fans who were hoping Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock would one day square off with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. However, his Venom franchise has always been more focused on the relations between the symbiotes, so much so it would almost seem weird to see this incarnation of the character face off against the web-head.
That being said, this may not be the end for Tom Hardy’s time as Eddie Brock. Sony Pictures has been pushing hard on the Spider-Man multiverse, even bringing back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in recent films. Venom: The Last Dance may be the end of this trilogy, but it’s not likely the studio will let Hardy go until all of the blood has been thoroughly squeezed from the stone that is Venom.
