The latest glimpse at Sony’s Venom focuses on an epic monster battle between the titular Marvel anti-hero and Riot (Riz Ahmed).
Venom director Ruben Fleischer has named the Lethal Protector storyline one of the film’s major influences multiple times, potentially hinting at some awesome symbiote action. The trailers for the film haven’t shown Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) squaring off against multiple symbiotes like in the Lethal Protector story, but they have focused on one ax-wielding symbiote that the titular anti-hero will have to take down.
Riot is the monstrous version of Riz Ahmed’s character, Carlton Drake. The trailers suggest that it is he who introduces Brock to the iconic symbiote, as part of an experiment that could also hint at more symbiote monsters that are being kept hidden from ads. The latest trailer keeps up the mystique of what the main chunk of the near-2 hour runtime of the Marvel solo film, but it does feature some awesome new footage of the Marvel iconic clashing with Riot. Check out the new footage below.
Venom has earned a PG-13 rating by the MPAA but the footage above shows that the film won’t shy away from the character’s mayhem. The footage shows Venom potentially munching down on multiple human enemies, so if you’re looking for all-out monster mayhem this Halloween season, it seems that Venom will be right up your alley. If the monster mayhem isn’t your thing though, don’t forget that Daredevil season 3 hits Netflix on October 19th to fill that superhero void this Halloween season.
